Adding Copyright Information To Your Images Using Adobe Bridge
This post details a simple method that I use to add copyright protection information to the metadata of all RAW files as soon as they are transferred to the computer. The method works just the same way for any file format that Adobe Bridge is capable of dealing with. One can always add a digital watermark to the image at a later stage in Photoshop if desired.
Create a folder named ‘MetaData Templates’ under ‘Application Data\Adobe\XMP’ within your account (mine is located under C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\). Now Create a file within the MetaData Templates folder entitled ‘Copyright 2006′ with contents similar to the following (but be sure to switch my name for your own in the two places it appears):

The Gates
Central Park, NY
Canon 300D with 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens @ ISO 100

Now all you need to do is to select images in Adobe Bridge you wish to copyright and navigate to Tools –> Append Metadata –> Copyright 2006. Your copyright information will be appended to the metadata in the image(s).
It doesn’t matter whether your images are in RAW, JPEG, TIFF or PSD … copyright information can still be appended to the metadata in the same simple way.
People who are interested in copyrighting their work should check out the Creative Commons licenses here http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/meet-the-licenses
The site provides further instructions on inserting your chosen license in to Adobe documents.

I want to turn off the automatic adjustments in Camera Raw and Bridge. i.e. just look at the RAW photos as I took them so I can see what I did wrong. PLEASE tell me how to do this! I will be forever grateful.

Hi James,
Thanks a lot for this useful information. I followed all the steps and tried to add copyright information to my photos but was not able to. When I navigated to Tools–> Append MetaData, it was showing “No Templates” which was inactive. I don’t know where I went wrong. Could you please help me out?
Thanks.
Mugs.

Like Mugs, I tried this procedure but received the “No Templates” message when trying to append MetaData.
