Photographs Of “The Gates”, New York City

Filed under: Photographs, Photography — James Stephens @ 8:35 pm

For a period of 16 days in Feb 2005, 7503 gates were on view to the public in Central Park, NY, stretching over 23 miles of park walkways.

For those who walked through “The Gates”, following the walkways, the saffron-colored fabric was a golden ceiling creating warm shadows When seen from the buildings surrounding Central Park, “The Gates” seemed like a golden river appearing and disappearing through the bare branches of the trees and highlighting the shape of the meandering footpaths. They really were beautiful.

Some of the photographs I took of the occassion are viewable “here”.
