Though I am broadly interested in all areas of astrophysics, my research focuses on understanding exoplanets — planets around other stars — primarily by characterizing their atmospheres and interiors. I'm also particularly interested in the potential habitability of terrestrial planets, and I eagerly look forward to when we can empirically probe other worlds for chemical signatures of inhabitants.
Since 2011, I have been a member at the IAS. Previously, I was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University (2008-2011). I received my Ph.D. in Astronomy in 2008 from Columbia University and my B.A. in Mathematics (summa cum laude) in 1999 from Amherst College.
