1 Einstein Drive
Princeton, NJ 08540, USA
The talks have been incorporated into the program page.
The videos are now available through the IAS website.
The aim of this meeting is to bring together a relatively small number of experts on different aspects of the generation and saturation of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence driven by the magnetorotational instability (MRI) in order to discuss recent progress and future challenges in the field.
The goal is to have a focused meeting on these problems:
* Numerical and theoretical challenges in MRI driven turbulence
* Interface between dynamo theory and MRI
* Role of non-ideal effects in the excitation and saturation of the MRI
* Interplay between small scales and large scales in MHD turbulence
* MHD turbulence and transport in astrophysical disks
In the spirit of facilitating close interactions between speakers and the audience, as well as devoting time for discussion after each session, we are keeping the number of talks small. We expect that this will be a very interactive meeting, with several focused discussion sessions throughout the workshop. For interested participants, there will be room for a number of posters. Please contact us if you are interested in this possibility.
There will be no registration fee for this workshop. Attendance to this event is by invitation only.
The program is available here.
The list of participants is available here.
As part of this workshop, there will be a visit to the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory to see the Magnetorotational Instability Experiment and the Magnetic Reconnection Experiment. All participants listed here are scheduled for this visit. All other interested people should contact us to express their interests in this visit and we will do our best to accommodate them.
Please be advised of the following for the visit of the PPPL: All adult visitors must show a government-issued photo I.D. This could include a passport or a driver's license. Non-U.S. citizens must show a photo I.D., and provide the following information at the lab: citizenship, date of birth, and place of birth. Cameras and tape recorders are permitted and encouraged. No briefcases or packages are allowed on the tour. No high-heeled shoes, open-toed shoes, or sandals. Please read all the relevant information here.
The schedule for the shuttle is available here.
Maps and directions to PPPL are

The Institute for Advanced Study is located in Princeton Township in central New Jersey. The Institute is approximately 2 km from the center of the town of Princeton and is easily accessible by car, train, or taxi from major cities along the Eastern seaboard.
This is a map with directions explaining how to get from the Nassau Inn to the IAS.The closest major airport serving Princeton area is Newark Liberty International (Newark, NJ). The Northeast Corridor train to Trenton (operated by New Jersey Transit) stops at the airport and reaches Princeton Junction in roughly 1 hour. From there there are two options. You can make a connection with the "Dinky" train and walk or take a taxi (see the inset in the map). More conveniently, you can just take a taxi from Princeton Junction to Downtown Princeton or the IAS. If possible, we suggest you book your flights to Newark.
Philadelphia International Airport (Philadelphia, PA) is the next most
convenient option, roughly 1 hour away by car. Other major airports
serving Princeton include JFK and La Guardia (New York City, NY). These
are 2-4 hours away by car, train or shuttle bus, depending on the traffic
and time of day.
Another option from any of these three airports is the
Olympic Airporter shared-ride shuttles
.
Local taxi companies include:
* AAA Princeton Taxi (1-800-481-8294; 1-609-921-1177; 1-609-924-1756)
* Amigo Taxi (1-609-452-2121)
* Associated Taxi (1-609-924-1222)

Online reservations are not possible. The deadline for reservations at these rates is May 14th, 2008.
If you do not have your own car, there will be a complimentary shuttle from this hotel to the Institute, so we ask you to stay at the Nassau Inn, if at all possible. The schedule for the shuttle is available here.
This is a map with directions explaining how to get from the Nassau Inn to the IAS.There are also several other nearby hotels from which the transportation to the Institute will not be provided by the organizers. You will need to use a taxi or rent a car to reach the Institute from these hotels.
