In your welcome letter, you will find your assigned user name and password. Be sure
the Log on to.. line reads SNS. The same password is also used for email.
You may change your password at any time. Please note - your new password must be at least 8
characters long and it must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
- Upper-case characters
- Lower-case characters
- Numerals (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)
- Non-alphanumeric characters (for example,
!@#$%^&*()_+=?})
Those are basic guidelines, but a password that meets these requirements may still be easy
for a hacker to guess. If you want to read more about secure passwords, please read our
passwords page2.
- Press the
CTRL+ALT+DELETE keys at the same time.
- Click Change Password...
- Type your current password, and your desired new password in the
specified places, then click OK. If your new password
does not meet
the requirements listed above you will receive an error message.
It is usually convenient to change your Linux/Email password when you change the Windows password.
- Start by logging onto a secure shell session as described in section 8.1 on page
.
- Once you have logged onto a shell session, type
passwd and
follow the
instructions. You may make your Linux password the same as your
Windows password.
