Linux Compute Servers
The following linux servers are available for general and/or computational use. These servers are available for public use via ssh, and have access to the same software suite as the Linux desktop machines.
- zeus & thor, Dell PowerEdge Servers with 6GB RAM, 2 x 3.4GHz Intel Xeon processors with 2MB L3 cache.
- hera & ares, Dell PowerEdge Servers with 4GB RAM, 2 x 3.06GHz Intel Xeon processors with 1MB L3 cache.
- achilles, charon, juno, jupiter, & pandora, Dell PowerEdge 2970 Servers with 32GB RAM, 2 x AMD Opteron dual-core 3 GHz processors (4 cores total) (These are our most powerful machines).
Each machine has 10GB of local disk space in
/tmp. This disk space can be written to by anyone,
but you can only delete your own files. Create a directory in
your name in the directory to organize your files more
efficiently.
When running more than one job on zeus, thor, hera, ares combined, you should run additional jobs at lower priority. Instructions on how to do this may be found here.
