Using the Scanner
There is an Epson color scanner located in Bloomberg Hall, Room 261. The
scanner is attached to a public PC and can be accessed by the Scanner
and Camera Wizard.
Scanning Text and Images
The Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard is best for general scanning uses. To scan a picture
or document, so the following:
- Place the item to be scanned in the scanner tray, face down.
- Launch the Scanner and Camera Wizard icon on the desktop. You will
see the following:

Click
Next>.
- Choose the appropriate Picture Type as shown. It is usually helpful
to use the Preview button, as the wizard can then determine the proper
scanning dimensions.

Click
Next>.
- Choose a file name, file format, and location to save the
scanned image(s). Four formats are available:
- BMP - uncompressed, pixel-by-pixel
- JPG - compressed, high color
- TIFF - uncompressed, best quality, large file
- PNG - compressed, basic color

Click
Next>.
- Scanning begins:

- Other options... Click Next>.

- Completing the Scanner and Camera Wizard - a link to the new
image(s) is presented.

Scanning to a PDF File
- To scan the document to a pdf file, open Adobe Acrobat and
select File --> Import --> Scan.
- The following window will appear:
Make sure the Device is
Epson Twain 5. and then click Scan.
- Once finished, you may either scan more pages or finish the scan.
To save the document then choose File --> Save
Scanning Directly to an Application
Many applications can import an image directly from the
scanner. Usually, the process is Insert --> Image --> From Scanner.
